Dr. Kim works with a master ceramist on every cosmetic and restorative case. Each tooth is made by hand, whether you’re getting a single crown or a full smile makeover. The shape, length, shade, and translucency of every tooth is designed to fit seamlessly into a smile that looks natural and complements your facial features.

Impression
We start with an impression, which we use to create an exact model of your teeth.
Design
The master ceramist sculpts your new trial smile directly on the model using wax.
Fitting
A mold of the finished design is filled with a temporary material and placed over your teeth.
Reveal
When the mold is removed, the temporary material left behind is a replica of what your new smile will look like.
Nothing is drilled or bonded. Veneers are permanent. The preview isn’t. So while you’re looking in the mirror, tell Dr. Kim if there’s anything you’d like changed. If you love what you see, then we’ll proceed with treatment, and the design will become a close blueprint for your final smile.

A Ceramist’s Son
Dr. Kim’s father is master ceramist Jason J. Kim. Departures magazine called him the Picasso of his field, and his work has been featured in publications ranging from The New York Times to Marie Claire.
From a young age, Dr. Kim was in and out of his father’s lab handling dental models and learning what goes into designing a natural smile. He always knew he would be a dentist. He earned his DDS at Columbia University, and then spent three years training one-on-one under a longtime instructor in NYU’s aesthetic dentistry program.
He now leads Grand Central Cosmetic Dentistry, as the second generation of his family to redefine what a natural smile can be.

What is PreNew PreView?
A way to physically see your smile in your mouth before treatment begins. The design is sculpted in wax, and then a mold of the design is placed over your teeth with temporary material that when removed leaves behind a model of your new smile.
What does the smile preview cost?
Nothing. It’s included with every new cosmetic consultation.
How long do porcelain veneers take?
We start with the PreNew PreView, which takes place over two visits. Once you approve the design, treatment begins, and your veneers are placed about two weeks after that. You'll come back a week later for a follow-up to make sure everything looks good
What is a master ceramist?
The artisan who makes your new teeth. Each tooth is built by hand, brushed on in thin layers of porcelain, then shaped to complement your features and finished to match the depth and subtle variation of natural enamel.
Do you still provide general dentistry?
Yes. Cleanings, fillings, and restorative care are continued with the same dentists you’ve been coming to for years.
