The People Behind Our Work
A cosmetic dentist raised by a master ceramist, leading a team of dentists who have been caring for Midtown for more than 25 years.

Dr. Joseph Kim, DDS
A Ceramist’s Son
Dr. Joseph Kim grew up on Long Island, the son of renowned master ceramist Jason J. Kim. Dubbed the Picasso of his field by Departures magazine, his father has been featured in publications from The New York Times to Marie Claire. Dr. Kim was always fascinated with his father’s work, and knew from a young age that he wanted to be a dentist. He loved spending time in his father’s lab, handling dental models and watching his father delicately craft smiles.

Honing His Craft
Dr. Kim earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Upon graduating, he spent the next three years training one-on-one under a longtime instructor in NYU’s aesthetic dentistry program, doing everything from restorative work and bonding to the wax-ups behind every smile design. With every case, he refined his skills and learned the things you can’t find in a textbook. Along the way, he observed and worked alongside some of New York’s most distinguished cosmetic dentists.

How He Works
Dr. Kim works with a master ceramist on every case. Whether it’s a single crown or a complete smile, his patients get the same ceramist and the same standard.
Each case begins with a complimentary preview: sculpted in wax, fitted over the patient’s own teeth, and seen in the mirror before treatment begins.
Every time, the goal is to create a smile that looks like it was always there.

Outside the Office
He cherishes his time with his wife and son, loves a good round of golf, and enjoys winding down after a long day by watching the Knicks, Giants, or Yankees.

The Practice
More Than Twenty-Five Years on East 40th St
This office has cared for the Midtown community for more than 25 years. Dr. Kim took the lead in 2026, bringing his expertise in cosmetic dentistry with him, and uniting the practice under the name, Grand Central Cosmetic Dentistry. The same doctors that patients have been seeing for years are still here for cleanings, fillings, and the restorative care that keeps your smile healthy.
