Wear Your New Smile Before You Decide
This isn’t a virtual try-on. When you look in the mirror you’ll see your new smile on your own teeth.
A Preview Brought to Life
A before-and-after photo tells you what’s possible for someone else.
A rendering on a screen tells you what it might look like for you.
But neither shows you what it will look like, in your mouth, with your face.
PreNew PreView does.

A Custom Design Before Treatment Begins
PreNew PreView is a method developed by Dr. Kim’s father that allows you to physically see your new smile in your mouth before you commit to treatment. Our master ceramist starts by sculpting the design in wax, which Dr. Kim makes a mold of. This mold is then used to apply a temporary material to your teeth in the shape of the design. When the mold comes off, your new smile is in the mirror, looking back at you. Porcelain is permanent. This isn’t.
It’s included in every cosmetic consultation, because we want you to go into treatment confident and excited.
Conversation
We start by asking what you like about your smile and what you’d like changed. We want your new smile to be a reflection of who you are, and that starts with listening.
Impression
We take photographs and an impression of your teeth, using the impression to create an exact model of your mouth.
Design
Our master ceramist then takes the model, sculpting your new trial smile directly onto it using wax. Each tooth is carefully shaped to look natural and complement your features. The process usually takes less than a week.
Fitting
Once our master ceramist has finished the design, you’ll return for a second visit where we’ll fill a mold of the design with a temporary material, and place it over your teeth.
Reveal
When the mold comes off, what you’ll see is a hyperrealistic preview of what your new smile will look like. As you look in the mirror, Dr. Kim will walk you through what he changed and why. If there’s anything that you’d like changed, this is the moment to say so. The temporary material is removed before you leave, and you’ll go home with before-and-after photographs.
Decision
When you decide to move forward, treatment will begin at your next appointment, with the design from your preview acting as a close working blueprint for your new smile.
What You’ll See, and What Comes Later
In the smile preview, you’re able to see the shape your new smile will take: the length of each tooth, how the teeth sit, and how your face changes. The one thing that you’ll have to wait to see is the finish. The temporary material used in the preview can’t capture the shade and translucency of natural enamel like custom-crafted porcelain can.
The preview shows you the shape. The porcelain brings the result home.

Where PreNew PreView Comes From
PreNew PreView was developed by Dr. Kim’s father, Jason J. Kim, a renowned master ceramist, who has been at the forefront of innovation in cosmetic dentistry for decades. He wanted to come up with a way for patients to see a ceramist’s design before committing to it. Dr. Kim grew up watching his father’s PreNew PreView process completely change the experience of patients, and today it’s the first step of every cosmetic case at Grand Central Cosmetic Dentistry.
Questions, Answered
What does the preview cost?
Nothing. It’s included in every cosmetic consultation, and you’ll be able to take home the before-and-after photos.
Does it hurt?
No. Nothing is drilled, bonded, or numbed for the preview. The temporary material rests on your teeth and is then removed before you leave the office.
Will my final smile match the preview?
In shape, very closely. The preview acts as a close blueprint for your smile. But in terms of shade and translucency it won’t be an exact match. The reason being that what gives your new smile a lifelike appearance is porcelain which is reserved for your final result.
What if I want something changed?
Just tell Dr. Kim. The PreNew PreView is the best time to let him know, before any porcelain is made. We want your result to be perfect and to feel like a true reflection of who you are. The only way to get to that place is through communication.
How long does the whole process take?
The preview takes two visits. Once you approve the design, we’ll begin treatment. Your veneers are placed about two weeks later, and then you’ll return for a follow-up a week later.
How long is the fitting appointment?
Usually about half an hour. It only takes a couple of minutes for the temporary material to set, and then most of the appointment is looking at the result with Dr. Kim, as he walks through what you’re seeing.
